About

I'm John Saunders, a software engineer. I have spent decades building, consulting on, and designing systems, using a broad array of languages and platforms. These days I work as a principal engineer.

This site is where I write it down: architecture and system design, the infrastructure underneath, building small products, and the AI tools that are changing how all of it gets done. Lately that includes running a small crew of AI agents on local and cloud models. I write about what works, what breaks, and what I would do differently.

If you want the short version: I care about software that holds up, and about writing clearly enough that someone else could rebuild what I built.
